The 2009 Suzuki GSX-R 600 Agree, Disagree? By Flory(Enthusiast), Jun. 11, 2009 This title is basically self explanatory. I purchased my 2009 GSXR 600 2 days ago (6/09/09) and picked it up yesterday (6/10/09) to give them time to prep it for safety and delivery. For your knowledge I would consider myself a seasoned rider with 3 previous bikes and 7 years street bike experience.... I would also like to add that this is my first Suzuki. All in all like the title states, I left with 0 miles at the dealership and when I was home had 20 miles on it, in my garage. My first impressions of this bike is the fact that despite the specs (432lbs) ,in manual, it is remarkably light. The seat height for this bike seemed rather high, considering I'm still partial to Kawasaki. I almost forgot to add a very interesting part to this bike as well as my review. I am about 5'6", yeah, I'm short. I had the Suzuki dealership I purchased this bike from put a lowering kit in it for me. It was more work than I ever imagined. They had to put the link in, drop it 2 inches. On top of that they had to cut my kick stand and re-weld it. I'm glad they did, I feel safer and more in control of the bike. I know I can't give you a detailed description of the bike due to the fact I only went 20 miles but I can tell you what I think and hope for the post break in. leaving the dealership lot was an exciting moment, until I tried to move. I stalled out 4 times. The clutch on this bike is very, VERY tight. I know it is new but I will be adjusting it as soon as I can. The bike ride for the first 20 was comfortable. I did notice however this bike appears to be shorter than years before. The shifter is farther back, closer to the beg. This places your body in a more prone racing stance. Some might enjoy this, however I am neutral. This bike has a few other features, some I never knew existed. The pass light (a yellow button on the top of the left handlebar grip) enables you to flash your high beams without clicking your high beams on and off. There is also another great feature, on the right handlebar. You can change the mode of riding on your bike (A,B,C) This changes the power and throttle response of your bike. I was told from the dealer that the least performance setting, C, is traction control. I saw nothing in the manual about this so let me know the validity of this. Hopefully in a few weeks I can get rid of the ugly exhaust and the plastic plate / light bracket. 2 words UG – LY. Some people like it, it's more personal preference. In the huge scheme of things I enjoy this bike, it's a step in the right direction as far as the integration and technology in the realm of motorcycles. If you want a great looking bike with the power to match this is for you. Also a side not. I crashed my motorcycle into some guy who decided that stopping for stop signs isn't cool or the law. It's been a year since I've gotten back on, and I'm glad I chose this bike. Its only 20 miles but for the first 20, apart from the price, I'm impressed. I hope this helps, if you guys want to know more or learn something new just post it up. Hope this helps, ride safe! Read Full Review By Chris Carranza(Owner), Nov. 16, 2009 I recently bought this 600 and thought that it would not measure up (in the midrange power section) to my last motorcycle which was a 2001 SV 650S and I do have to say this thing is fun to ride and being almost 40 friends were steering me in another direction saying that midrange power is not ther... e until you hit the high revs on this venerable 600, By Steve(Owner), May. 26, 2009 Have about 500 miles on it now and loved every single mile. This bike is quick. It is comfortable, sounds great, looks great and is easy to ride. It has been years since I rode a sport bike and within hours I was right back into it. Still breaking it in but so far it has handled everything I have... thrown at it. Read Full Review By Alex(Owner), Aug. 6, 2009 This is my first sport bike and I love it. The ride is quick and smoth and handles well.I get compliments on my 600 every where i go. The first 20 miles
The Best 600
but that is not the case. A good friend of mine which is a very good rider and has been riding of more standard bikes thought I would be sorry on my purchase, despite his best instruction on a cycle purchase I continued on the 600 journey to own one and after the purchase I informed him he was way wrong on the power and all the features this bike comes with, IE: adjustable pegs, adjustable power settings, adjustable shift light, fully adjustable front and rear shocks,
and interest rate 1.99% till nov 30th, I knew I couldn't go wrong. Need less to say he called me and had alot of really good things to say after doing some research about the suzuki gsxr 600 saying that how much better this bike was compared to the competition in the 600 class.
This bike is the best looking 600 out there, I got the orange and black one and couldn't be happier.
I also think suzuki is the front runner in cycle design as compared to price and features for sure!!
On a side note you can get one cheaper than list price if you shop around even shipping from out of state is cheaper than some dealers "set-up fee" which is total crap since the manufacturer pays them to put it together from crate status. Read Full Review Highly Satisfied
